Project in pleasant collaboration with Josfien Maes.
Classical country interiors keep their appearance and soul after many years.
They are and remain as unique as the space in which they are located.
“It was the challenge to create a country-classical kitchen that didn’t look too rustic. That is why contemporary elements were added, without disturbing the harmony." The environment was taken into consideration for the layout. "We placed the dining table at the window with view on the fields and the preparation area overlooks the courtyard." An oak kitchen island with a countertop and washbasin in solid blue stone are central. The countertop in natural stone as well as the solid wood profile under the countertop were finished with an ogee edge, which gives the island an elegant touch.
The furniture visible from the living room is painted in a creamy colour. "The paint colour is a beautiful addition to the natural brown of the wood and the brown-grey of the lampshades and the upholstery of the chairs. This creates a warm colour mix that makes the space nice and cosy."
At night it even has more ambience because of the indirect lighting in the display cabinet. The pale colour and also the correct symmetry make the entire arrangement look peaceful. Another strong point of Dekeyzer reflected here is the talent to ensure that certain items that look less attractive are tastefully concealed. As an example, the door to the pantry is absorbed in a stylish oak wall.
Each interior is manufactured with the same care and eye for detail. An example of the quality is the way in which the oak is varnished.
The grain of the wood is first sanded powerfully with copper brushes to then be varnished in the chosen colour. The varnish fixes deeper because of the deep grains.
The application of the varnish occurs in five stages, in which each layer is rubbed into the wood extra deeply.
Finally a finishing coat of transparent protective varnish is applied to the coloured door.
Due to this intensive staging of the colours, the life expectancy of the coloured door is guaranteed.
This stately mansion with majestically high ceilings got the kitchen it deserves.
The kitchen space was dressed with high custom-made cupboards by De Keyzer. The code word here was respect for the authenticity of the residence.
The high cupboards accentuate not only the impressive proportions of the space; they also create a huge amount of cupboard space for the residents. And they hide a lot of state-of-the-art equipment behind the solid oak doors.
The kitchen was finished with luxurious materials: solid oak fronts, a natural stone countertop, a warm wooden floor, wallpaper with a high level of strokability and magnificent window upholstery.
For those who enjoy the nice things in life, a stylish kitchen is an important aspect of life. And it is even better when the kitchen is tailored to the rest of the house down to the smallest detail.
This is definitely the case in this example. The kitchen and the pantry are virtually created for the country mansion in which they are located.
Two colours dominate the kitchen. White-wash oak is alternated with mastic, a grey-beige like colour which can be found in the custom-made panelling – positioned around the whole kitchen – and some of the cupboards.
The natural shades totally suit the natural materials that have been utilised in this space. Examples are the solid natural wood, hand-painted wood and Belgian blue limestone. All these materials and their specific finish jointly ensure a country, timeless atmosphere.
